Serie acerca de las políticas extractivistas, el deterioro ambiental y la necesidad de regeneración / Series about a reflection on extractivist policies and environmental deterioration and the need for regeneration

 

Éramos tierra. Después se la apropiaron. Se hizo plano, cercado, producto. Agua y tierra devastados. Los bosques desaparecen. Comunidades enteras son desplazadas. 

¿Cómo se restituye lo perdido? ¿Qué gestos son parte del lenguaje de una tierra amorosamente compartida y co-creada entre seres de todas las especies? Mientras me pregunto camino. En el aparente silencio de las plantas escucho. Transforman en vida lo que tocan. Crecen en asociación nutricia, exploran sin dominar. En prodigiosa red sustentan la vida. 

Despacito las vuelvo hilo, las entrecruzo, se hacen yuyal tejido. Tierra yuyal para volver a reunirnos.

 

Urdimbres: lino, cáñamo, seda, algodón, ramio

Trama: trama de fibras obtenidas de plantas (formio, agave, banana,ruibarbo, palmera), kudzu, ortiga, papel, materiales reciclados de pesca con mosca.

We were the land. Then it was taken from us. It became plat, fence, product. Land and water devastaded. Forests cleared. Entire communities displaced. To who do we belong? How is the lost restored? I wonder, and while I wonder I walk, and while I walk the plants speak to me. I gather leaves, I rescue what is about to dry. Slowly I turn them into thread, I intertwine them, they become woven yuyal*. Weed-land to meet again.(* yuyo (from Quechua) is a word use in Argentina with the meaning of weed)

 

Warps: linen, hemp, silk, cotton, ramie

Weft: fibers obtained from plants (formium, agave, banana, rhubarb, palm tree), kudzu, nettle, paper, recycled fly fishing materials.
